i’m Lisa, an Artist and Interior Designer originally from Cape Town, South Africa, now based in the UK for nearly 10 years. I hold a degree in Fine Art and Interior Design. After 4 years working in London on residential, restaurant/bar interiors, my journey brought my family and I to Deal. 

i returned to my brushes after a very long stint of no art making. Between the demands of full time motherhood and domesticity. I began painting my sea squares from the many images I’d taken of Deal and the East Kent coast.

the small format 3 x 3 inch and medium of gouache gave me the flexibility to paint anytime, anywhere and within the confines of zero childcare - naps!

what began with the sea squares has evolved into various commissions, mostly of beautiful tiny people - memory squares. I’m  still drawn to a square format but have most recently been painting nude squares in oils on canvas.
